The CMBA Benefit

View the CMBA Skills Profile™

The CMBA can enhance your value and marketability in the crowded MBA market.

With the increased need to differentiate yourself among the rising number of MBA graduates per year (116,475 in 2000-2001 according to the U.S. Department of Education), the International Certification Institute (ICI), in conjunction with Galton Technologies, a part of Prometric and leading provider of assessment and certification services, has developed a comprehensive certification exam to confirm your command of the business fundamentals companies expect of MBA hires.

The CMBA confirms a student's mastery of content consistent with the four core curriculum areas required across all accredited MBA programs by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). The curriculum areas are: financial reporting, analysis and markets; domestic and global economic environments of organizations; creation and distribution of goods and services; and human behavior in organizations. Schools not accredited typically incorporate similar requirements into their curriculums, so enrollment in or graduation from an accredited institution is not required to be eligible to take the CMBA exam. The AACSB was not involved in the development of the CMBA nor has it reviewed the exam for endorsement.

The explosive growth in the number of traditional and non-traditional MBA programs is also fueling your need for the CMBA. There are more than 1,200 degree granting MBA programs internationally and more than 50,000 students expected to be enrolled in online MBA programs in 2002. The CMBA can level the playing field between you and graduates who may rely on program prestige and reputation to promote their perceived difference. It can also effectively neutralize the bias of school reputation or rank in the recruiting and hiring decision.

As a further benefit, a CMBA Skills Profile™ will be provided to all students taking the CMBA exam. View the CMBA Skills Profile™. The CMBA Skills Profile assesses a student's performance in 10 key subject areas, enabling them to identify their strengths and pursue opportunities to improve in areas of weakness. The 10 key subject areas are: Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Quantitative Analysis, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Finance, Marketing Management, Operations Management, Organizational Behavior, and Strategy.

The CMBA will confirm you command of these subject areas and can help you be more successful in your job search.
