Background About International Certification Institute: Based in Mocksville, N.C., International Certification Institute (ICI) is organized around three primary constituencies - students, business and educators - and facilitates advisement and product development through its Council of Academic Advisors, Council of Business Advisors and Association of Certified MBAs (ACMBA). ICI’s executive management is committed to working directly with this network of professional and academic bodies to add value to graduate business education and to the global institutions that depend on academic and certification institutions to educate business administrators. Executive Management: W. Michael Mebane, MBA, Managing Director of ICI, has been an executive resident at the Global Business Education and Research Center at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro for the past two years. Prior to becoming an educator, Mebane spent 10 years with Unifi Inc., the world's largest producer and processor of polyester yarns, and retired in 2001 as the Vice President of International Operations. Mebane received his BS degree from North Carolina State University and his MBA degree from the Wake Forest University Babcock Graduate School of Management. In addition to his position at ICI, he is a founding director of the Mebane Foundation, a nonprofit charitable organization with a primary emphasis on literacy and education. Bernard L. Beatty, DBA, ICI’s Director of the CMBA Academic Advisory Council, has been a member of the Wake Forest University Babcock Graduate School of Management administration and faculty since 1975, where he has been recognized as educator of the year five times. Prior to joining Wake Forest, Dr. Beatty was a financial manager and educator in the U.S. Air Force. He has taught accounting and management control subjects throughout the world. Dr. Beatty received a BS degree from The Ohio State University, and has MBA and DBA degrees from the Harvard Business School. Earned certifications include Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor and Certified Fraud Examiner. He serves on various company boards and conducts educational seminars for businesses. Lisa Walter, MBA, is the Director of MBA Services, the ICI student entity, and will head the Association of Certified Masters of Business Administration (ACMBA), once established. Prior to joining ICI, Walter served more than 14 years in managerial roles as a sales manager, director and vice president of packaged good promotional services within the packaged goods industries. In addition, she managed sales and marketing efforts for two companies offering new types of advertising mediums. After leaving the corporate environment, Walter provided marketing consulting services to many of her former clients. In 1999, she developed and introduced a new niche company in Chicago offering specialized postnatal fitness programs to new mothers. She sold the business in 2001 to join ICI. Walter received a BS from Wake Forest University and a MBA degree from Wake Forest University's Babcock Graduate School of Management. Allen Mebane, is a co-founder of ICI and Director of ICI’s CMBA Business Advisory Council. Best known as the founder and retired chairman of Unifi Inc., the world’s largest producer of textured yarns and processor of polyester yarns, Mebane started and grew Unifi into an industry giant generating more than $1.7 billon in annual sales. He has been featured in a variety of business media publications including Forbes and Fortune for his business innovation and leadership. Mebane attended Davidson College and Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science. He holds two honorary doctorates in textiles and business, respectively. In addition to his role with ICI, Mebane serves as president and director of the Mebane Foundation, a nonprofit charitable organization with a primary emphasis on literacy and education, which he founded in 1992. He has also served on various boards of directors and advisory councils for a variety of organizations including the American Business Conference and the North Carolina Citizens for Business Industry (NCCBI), North Carolina’s largest business group. |
